Transporting dangerous goods by ship is a unique situation, due to the large quantities that are involved, the lengthy travel times, and other transportation factors (heat, humidity, exposure to water, severe movement, etc.). The International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Dangerous Goods Code specifies the requirements that must be followed. A thorough knowledge of dangerous goods must be obtained before you move dangerous goods by ship. You must have the current edition of the IMDG Code to complete this training. To maintain compliance, students must recertify every 36 months.

What is my employers responsibility in training?
Your employer must ensure that course material is completed by you alone, and assessments (exam) are completed ethically and without assistance.  Any additional specific training not covered in this course but commensurate with your position should be provided by your employer.  Your employer will need to sign the certificate of completion as per Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations.  Please review an employee and employers' responsibilities here.
I do not have a copy of the IMDG Code, can I still complete the course?
No. You will require a copy of the IMDG Code to complete the course. Please ensure you have made arrangements to access the book from your employer BEFORE registering for the course.
Do you sell the IMDG code?
No, we do not sell the IMDG code, but if you email us we can direct you to groups that do.
I have an older version of the IMDG code, can it be used?
We recommend that you use the latest edition of the IMDG code, but the last edition can be used as long as you can Google the amendments made to that edition.
Is there an in-class or virtual class option supported by an instructor for ocean dangerous goods?
No, this class is entirely online and is not supported by an instructor.
Do I need a certain grade to pass?
Yes, the passing requirement is 80%.
